'AS YOU WANT IT...WHEN YOU NEED IT'

Support

Taxing themes obtrude in the Gospel record with a frequency that is surprising. The institution of slavery is endemic in Gospel times, yet it barely raises a murmur. The approach of the bible contributors to each of these themes is much the same – prudence. It strikes a contemporary chord.

Nevertheless the weakness of the taxing ‘realpolitik’ lies in its strength – namely, a bias toward tax gathering. Of course, the [a] relieving provisions of the Taxes Acts stand in equivalence with their [b] taxing counterparts yet there appears to be genuine difficulty in working these.

Despite rumour to the contrary the taxing arrangements of Ministers of Religion is a simple enough matter. On a scale from 1 to 10, where 1 = simple and 10 = complex, the competent completion of a basic Tax Return for a Ministers of Religion, say, lies between 2 and 3, and so Mintaplan ltd seeks as much to encourage –

that handful of ministers who have an inclination toward attending to their own fiscal responsibilities (recall ‘render…’) and who are prepared to set aside the necessary time and effort to attain a sufficient competence, and the larger minority of others who, with a measure of professional support, might be persuaded to ‘have a go’

as to discourage –

those who convey the view that clergy tax is so arcane as to lie outside the scope of the normal mortal, or

those who insist on time-wasting travel on the part of ministers or tax practitioners, or

those who charge excessively, or

those who influence ministers to delay their Tax Returns – the setting of your 2007 / 08 Notice of Coding is as crucial as the completion of your 2007 Return

and so to these we offer the following supplementary services–

                      Valuecall Service         0906 515 1022

in which you pay £ 1.50 per minute for a brief telephone call to confirm or quickly assure you of some matter before you send in your 2006 / 07 Return. This is not designed for more technical issues (see following) which may call for greater research but we will keep track of passing time. Ask for Mr McNaughton or Mr Reid, but as a suggestion it would probably be helpful if you made a list when ‘pencilling’ in your initial responses on your Tax Return 2006 / 2007.
